Vietnam Swim Mission

Available dates : 31 March – 13 April 2018 or 30 June – 13 July 2018

VIETNAM

Travel to Vietnam and spend time teaching vulnerable children how to swim. Drowning is one of the leading causes of mortality among children over the age of one in Vietnam. Reasons for the increasing number of child deaths from drowning include unsafe environments, limited awareness, inadequate adult supervision and a lack of swimming skills. It is widely reported that the death toll from drowning is higher than the road toll. In partnership with Austswim and Swim Vietnam this trip will provide vulnerable children with basic swimming and water safety skills.

Return to your hotel around lunchtime. This afternoon take a walk to the meeting point of 98 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hoi An Ancient Town for a cooking class. Starting time is 2:30pm.
Visit Hoi An’s colourful market, and experience its amazing sights, sounds and aromas. We will have the opportunity to interact with
the local sellers and learn about all the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.
We will board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School.
This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your camera is handy.
On arrival, we explore the cooking school’s herb garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well known dishes.
The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – the Red Bridge chefs first demonstrate each dish before we prepare the same
dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, we
sit down and eat what we have cooked. Bring your swimsuit - after the cooking tour has finished, relax and enjoy free use of our 20 metre swimming pool - towels and
