Tour Guides and Companions

John Rutherford

John has planned and co-lead or lead nine tours, this will be his fifth to Israel and Jordan.

“Tina and I have travelled privately but sometimes a well planned tour gives much better value for money. Designing and optimizing this new trip for kids as well as parents and grandparents to provide lifetime memories with fun activities, unpacked bags for 5 nights in a row [twice!], food, culture, history, archaeology, adventure and religion has used my analytical strengths [I am an Engineer] and travel experience. All my trips have had repeat customers! We will not overdo “Cathedrals”, nor teach and preach but simply experience cultural, biblical, historical, architectural, technical and at least five World Heritage places in their Christian context PLUS Mount Hermon snowfields, tunnels, 4WDs and fun things. I think Aussies love to know everything is included like tipping, most meals, all entry fees, etc. and doing it off peak works well - no queues [Time is money!]

I’m excited! Come and join me with your family and “welcome” if you are joining me for a second or third time as is Judy who will be helping me to lead. [Tina is staying home this time with brand new grand mothering duties!]”

John, who lives on the Gold Coast has suggested that he calls you if you want to touch base with any niggling questions before booking or departing. Ask Mission Travel to arrange.

Travelling with children

Many people are nervous about travelling with children. From our experience kids are often more relaxed and laid back than many adults!
Kids are resilient, they sleep just about anywhere and love variety.

Please don't be nervous about taking your kids - this is exactly what we have designed this trip to be.
A few things to remember:

  1. If your kids are getting tired you are welcome to just take the day off and relax at the hotel
  2. Early nights are key - there are no scheduled evening activities apart from dinner. Try and have the kids in bed to ensure they get 9-10 hours sleep
  3. Bring electronic devices for the bus drives. An iPad is ideal (don't forget the headphones). We have requested wi fi enabled coaches for this very reason!
  4. Our Director Lisa Tarzia has travelled the world with her children from 6 weeks of age. She is available to chat with you if you have any questions or concerns about travelling with your children. LISA-cirlce

"I find travelling with my kids so rewarding! To see their faces light up at new things, the way they engage with people, young and old, and what I hope will be lifelong memories, make it so worth it!"
