Calling all teachers, Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary for a life changing trip to Rwanda 25 years after the "Genocide of the Tutsi” and see how the country is recovering and developing. At Hope:Global we see Education as the primary vehicle to move out of poverty and so this year we have been invited not only to team teach with teachers at a local school level but also provide training for up to 600 teachers in 2 districts in the rural areas of Rwanda. Not a teacher - you are welcome too - we need community workers such as speech therapists, nurses, doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, optometrists, to assist with community based raining in local communities.

But we also know travelling into China can be daunting - so this provides you with a safe, easy and supportive missional team experience. In stepping out to serve others you will encounter God and be drawn closer to Him. Looking deep into the eyes and heart of a child, and being part of their lives will change you forever. You will give love and it will be returned in abundance. Returning team members tell us they return home with a fresh sense of purpose and destiny in their lives.

This year, 2019, is a significant year in the modern history of Cambodia. January 2019 marks 40 years since the defeat of the Khmer Rouge by the Vietnamese. The Khmer Rouge ruled and ravaged Cambodia from April 1975 until January 1979. During that time, more than 2 million Cambodians – men, women and children - were murdered at the hands of the Khmer Rouge. A country that was once a shining light in South East Asia was decimated. Under the Khmer Rouge, schools were closed and destroyed and intellectuals were executed. Educators and teachers were subjected to, at the least, suspicion and harsh treatment and, at the worst, execution. During the Khmer Rouge years, the great strides made in literacy and in education following independence in 1953, were obliterated systematically. At the beginning of the 1970s, more than 20,000 teachers lived in Cambodia; only about 5,000 of the teachers remained 10 years later.
The purpose of this journey is to gain insights into the realities of life for the materially poor but spiritually rich in both rural and urban communities as well as to witness the work of the Church as it meets the material, pastoral and spiritual needs of the people served by its presence.
